“3-D” explores the work of three noted American artists who have stepped outside the boundaries of traditional glass, photography and clay. The exhibit opens September 6 and continues through October 3. Free.
Christine Rodrigues Schukow, Ellenville, New York specializes in the design and construction of shadowbox dioramas – amazing little creations that capture a moment in time and draw the viewer in, usually with a smile, a touch of nostalgia, humor, or just a pleasant sense of times gone by.
Jean-Pierre Weill, Baltimore, Maryland developed the technique of Vitreography, drawing and painting in 3-dimensional space. This art process includes producing images or writing on multiple pieces of glass with opaque and translucent paints and inks.
Scott E. Matyjaszek, Rochester, New York creates 3-dimensional photography that is uniquely different. Scott’s photographs are hand-cut and layered to create a technique he describes as “photo-relief.” The images are digitally printed two to three times. Then the photographs are hand-cut with an exacto-blade, assembled, layered, and glued back together again to create depth and perspective.
Pop’s Glass Studio & Gallery’s mission is to raise the awareness of and exposure to the arts, fine craft and glass blowing in Conway, Horry County and South Carolina.
